Ren was born with all twelve star veins destroyed. At seventeen, he remains an expendable servant in the Astral Veil Sect's Herb Valley, testing poisonous plants and unfinished pills to pay a family debt he may never live long enough to clear. When three poisons collide inside him, his body refuses to forget the damage. The injury becomes a Scar Mark: a permanent adaptation that can process threats no ordinary cultivator could survive. Poison, heat, lightning, and beast venom can all become power—if they do not kill him first. Every scar carries more than resistance. It leaves behind an instinct, hunger, or compulsion shaped by the wound that created it. The same injury cannot strengthen him twice, so progress demands new dangers while each adaptation pulls his behavior further from human control. The sect has already noticed that its disposable servant no longer dies on schedule. To become a recognized disciple, Ren must master the forbidden cultivation path written into his flesh before the people who profit from his suffering decide to claim it for themselves.
